Visiting the Pearl of Lake Como in Winter! | Morning Trip to Bellagio, Italy

Описание: Today we'll be going on a winter morning trip to Bellagio, a town renowned worldwide for its scenic views, picturesque streets and elegant villas!
Bellagio is located on the inner tip of Lake Como, in northern Italy, not far from the Alps.
From here you can admire the lake in all of its beauty, as well as the snowy Alps far off in the distance up north.
Snowy because we're visiting the town center in winter, a time of the year which most people usually don't get to see! It's also a bit quieter now, which will make this a more relaxing experience as a whole!

Although known with the nickname of 'the pearl of Lake Como', you might be left a bit disappointed when going to Bellagio for the first time.
That's because of two simple reasons:
1. you'd probably be visiting the town center (the place shown in this video), which is a lot smaller than it may look due to the huge hill right behind it being private property;
2. said town center is also bustling with tourists almost year-round, potentially ruining what could be a charming experience and instead turning it into a bad time.
That being said, Bellagio is actually much more than just this area! The town is made up of multiple hamlets, both along the shores and up the nearby mountain.
They are all really beautiful places worth checking out if you have the time, and are usually less crowded than the town center (*this is probably not true on summer weekends though).

Some examples of such hamlets are:
Loppia, a very small hamlet not far from the town center. You can reach it from there by following the lakefront and crossing through the gorgeous park of Villa Melzi, another must-see spot of the town!
San Giovanni, also on the same shore as the town center, is just a bit further south than Loppia.
This hamlet is quite a bit bigger and has a quaint residential area filled with picturesque streets, churches, a great beach and a lakeside square overlooking the local harbour.
On the pier of the harbour you can also find a dedicated ferry stop, which is open only in spring and summer!
on the opposite shore of the town center is the small yet incredibly scenic hamlet of Pescallo.
This one is absolutely worth a visit even if you don't have much time to spend in Bellagio, since it's not that far from the ferry docks.
It's in fact the closest of the hamlets to the town center, and can be reached in a few short minutes by following an old path from in front of the town hall ( 17:31 ).
moving on to the mountainside, from the rural hamlet of Chevrio you can reach a spectacular viewpoint called 'Makallè' ('Belvedere di Makallè' in italian).
From here you can admire a simply breathtaking view of Lake Como, of the lower half of Bellagio from above and even clearly see the iconic inverted Y shape of the lake!
as you keep heading up the mountain you'll get close to the summit of Mount San Primo, one of the tallest and most well known mountains of the area.
There are many small hamlets dotted here and there along the upper slope as you get closer to the peak. The view from it is unmatched as well, although it will take quite a bit of hiking to reach it!

Bellagio, like many other towns and villages built along the shores and nearby mountains of Lake Como, is a place of many wonders and one that has to be visited at least once if you are ever around here!
Just be sure to plan accordingly and to consider that Bellagio is by far the busiest and most crowded location of them all on the lake; do that and you won't be left disappointed by this incredibly beautiful place. :)
