Wild Pear Preserve:
Insert the jars in a boiling water bath for at least 10 minutes.
6 pounds of pears were used and yielded 8 cups of preserves.
Cut the stems off the pears.
Peal
Half and core the pears.
Chop up the pears.
Cover the pears with water.
Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium heat.
Once pears soften, mash to the desired size.
Measure out the pears once cooked for 1 hour medium-low.
Add an equivalent amount of sugar.
Stir and cook on medium low for an additional hour.
Stir every 5-10 minutes to avoid the preserve from sticking to the pan.
Once it clumps being poured from the spoon it’s ready.
Let some preserve cool to determine if it is starting to gel.
Ladle preserve into sterile jars.
Place lids.
Apply the lid finger tight.
Water bath can the jars for at least 10 minutes before storage.
