Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt PowerRide Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch for the Chevrolet and GMC towing prep package, and this has a 30,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the 2020 and newer Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks, with the eight foot bed and the factory towing prep package. And on a custom fit part like this, I always recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year of model vehicle, and it'll show if this'll work for your application. Now this fifth wheel hitch you're mounting your truck bed so that you can tow your fifth-wheel trailer, it will tow up to 30,000 pounds. With this nice heavy duty fifth-wheel trailer hitch, we're going to zoom in and go over a few features on this.
Start with the jaws right here, they use an interlocking two jaw system that provides a nice 360 degree jaw to kingpin contact, and because of that, it'll give you less rattle, more security than the slide bar models. Has the multidirectional yoke, it's a cast joke head, it delivers a nice, smooth ride, less strain on the truck, and the head will tilt in multiple directions for a nice smooth ride. It'll go side to side, and it'll also move front to back. On the very top of this, they use integrated where plates for a nice, smooth operation, extended longevity, and there's no grease needed or lube plates needed. And what's nice about these wear plates on the top, they are sold as replaceable parts so you could actually replace them if they start to wear.
This does also offer four built-in grease Zerk fittings for easy lubrication of the jaws and of the hitch head pivot points. If you, notice there's is Zerk fitting right on that jaw, one on that jaw, if I spin it over here, you can see there's a Zerk fitting for that head, and one right on this side, so a total of four of them. What's nice, you just, the Zerk fitting allows you to just attach the grease gun and pump the grease in there and lubricate it, very easy to do. Now this does ensure secure towing, uses the unique three point color coded lock indicator system, and all you have to do is just look at the color indicator that's under the hitch head right in the back here. So if I spin this around and if you look, you'll see there's a color indicator and it's a round, green circle here.
When that's, showing that means these jaws are closed, the handle's locked in position, you're all ready to tow. When you open his handle and then open the jaws it'll show a yellow designation, which means the jaws are open, it's ready to couple. And if it happens to show red like a stop sign, it means the jobs are open or the handle's unlocked, you do not want to tow in that position. And again, as we mentioned, if you noticed when you're in the cab and you turn around, these lock indicators are visible from the cab. If you look on the side here, we've attached the legs to the center crossmember.
You can see there's four rows of holes when you go to attach it, and that'll give you a four inch hitch height adjustment. So in other words, when you bolt your legs to here, you want to get the correct height, hitch height adjustment is critical 'cause when you tow you want to be as level as possible. So this will help you get to this level as possible, gives you a range of 13 inches up to 17 inches hitch height, and hitch height is always measured from the truck bed to the top of the hitch head. Also, if you notice this handle right up front here, this gives you a nice fast one pin head removal, makes it very easy for one person to remove the hitch from the vehicle. In the back here, you can see there's this pin, you just lift that pin up, pull that handle in front, and it slides the large pivot pin out. Also gives you some nice strategic grip points for ergonomic moving and handling of the hitch. Shooting back out here, the handle right over here, it is a nice ergonomic self resetting handle that'll offer easy to use from the side of the truck bed. The ergonomic handle will reset, self reset after uncoupling your trailer, so it makes it ready to couple down without any extra steps. And this is a very simple installation. If you look on the side here, it is designed to drop into the four receiver pucks that are built into your factory under bed rails. And basically the way you would do that is just, again, pull the pin out, unhook it right here, and then pull your pin out, and when you do that, these handles will
