Rigid Force Alpha is a Shoot em up created by COM8COM1 software and is a space shooter in similar vein to R Type and gradius respectively, despite the familiar mechanics the game brings something rather different in terms of the style its style and level layouts, with beautiful synths and amazing music rigid forces brings you unique stages and the story is rather simplistic as you have to make your way through various waves of enemies and navigate beautiful rendered stages in order to navigate and defeat each stages end level boss, they are rather big and boasting as usual and it takes a combination of skill and thought in order to defeat the enemies and move on to the next stage upon completion.
You can level up your ship and gain enhancements in order to make progression easier as with the shooters that this is based on you lose these enhancements each time you die
Does this game have replay value?
It depends on if you like this kind of shooter I found that the difficulty levels varies with each stage, the thing that draws me to this game is its soundtrack with beautiful retro synths similar to far cry blood dragon, that gives this game its rather nostalgic feel, depending on your skill level you can complete ridig force alpha within a couple of days and I would say it has 15 + hours of gameplay.
Now as always I give every game I review a score between 1 and a 5 with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best I give rigid force alpha a solid 3.5, a great nostalgic pickup but to be honest I don’t see this as a game that I would play constantly, it would be ideal for the Nintendo switch as you could pick up and play on the go, as for a pc port this would be a good time waster prior to your next triple a title or open world space shooter
