Did you ever try to look through a round glass full of water?
Noticed something weird, like the picture doesn't look the same?
The scientific concept that is at work in this example is called refraction, which means the bending of light.
Refraction occurs when light travels from one medium into another (i.e. Air to Water, Water to Air).
Refraction is the bending of light. In this case, light traveled from the air, through the front of the glass jar, through the water, through the back of the glass jar, and then back through the air, before hitting the picture. Whenever light passes from one medium into another, it refracts.
