I recently had a case with a mom and she came in all upset. And at first she thought that maybe she was being picked on because she was a female and the doctor was a male. And that may indeed be what was playing out here. But I think it was a lot farther, deeper than that. The mom had the audacity to disagree with a doctor, and the doctor was self-imposed, self ego, self-esteem self-worth was always right, at least told that to the mom and the mom knew her children, especially this one child and knew that the treatment plan for this child was wrong. And so then she had the audacity to go see an endocrinologist to get a second opinion who sided with her and gave her a different approach and a different way to do it. Now back at the bond, the first doctor filed a 51A saying she had been neglectful because she wasn't following proper medical protocol. And the mother did more research and I can't make this up, the mother was spot on, she made the right choice. The child started to really respond to what Dr. number two had suggested and that was within her right to do that. And when DCF supported the decision against her based upon the first doctor and they did an assessment, in the end, they reversed and overturned the neglect allegation and everybody went home happy because the doctors aren't always right. They are mere mortals they're human beings. Doctors have malpractice insurance. Why? They make mistakes. We all do. Get over it, but don't think that the doctor's coming after you, think in terms of maybe the doctor made a mistake, maybe the doctor had a bad day. Maybe the doctor missed something. Maybe you didn't explain yourself with clarity and clearness. Whole host of reasons why your relationship and communication with the doctor may not be optimal. May not be optimal.
