Описание: The Contemporary Art Collection MuFo. New Acquisitions | Anna Orłowska „Pompier, Muck, Socrococo”

With the support of the City of Kraków and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, in 2020, MuFo is pleased to include in its collection the works of five artists: Bogusław Bachorczyk (b. 1969), Paweł Bownik (b. 1977), Aneta Grzeszykowska (b. 1974), Rafał Milach (b. 1978), and Anna Orłowska (b. 1986).

Employing collage techniques, Anna Orłowska combines fragments of reproductions of paintings by Jan Matejko (1838–1893) with fragments of photographs of Nowa Huta, the showcase Communist-era planned district, from vintage albums and postcards. The project is an example of the artist’s use of deconstruction and blending strategies in order to formulate an authorial message out of complex, culturally complicated content.
