The whole of Satkhira has been devastated by cyclone Ampan. Two persons, Karimon Nesha (40) of Kamalraganar area and Shamsur Rahman (60) of Bakal area, died when a tree fell on them. More than 10 thousand fish ponds have been washed away and various crops including mango and vegetables have been damaged. Many roads have been closed due to uprooting of trees.

According to the district fisheries officer, 10,256 fish farms were completely damaged in the cyclone. As a result, shrimp and white fish worth Tk 16 crore have been destroyed.

Nazrul Islam, acting deputy director of the district agricultural extension department, said the crop worth Tk 138 crore was completely destroyed in Satkhira due to cyclone Ampan. Of this, 18,298 tonnes of mangoes were damaged, worth Tk 65.17 crore, 31,060 tonnes of vegetables worth Tk 72.17 crore were lost, betel leaves worth Tk 10.22 crore and sesame worth Tk 4.5 lakh were lost. .


Besides, water is entering the locality by breaking the embankment of Kopotaksh and Kholpetua rivers at several spots of Padmapukur, Gabura and Pratapnagar Union of Asashuni in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira adjacent to Sundarbans. The worst affected area is the Chaulkhola area of Padmapukur Union.
Besides, water is overflowing in Kamalkati and Chandipur areas. Water is entering the locality by breaking the dam in Jelekhani and Napitkhali areas of Gabura Union. Asashuni Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mir Alif Reza has confirmed that water is entering the locality of Subhadrakati, Kurikaunia, Chakla, Hijla, Dighlarright and Kola of Pratapnagar Union of Asashuni.

Almost all the areas in Satkhira district have lost their vegetation. In some areas, communication has been cut off due to falling trees. In some areas, power has been cut off due to falling trees and uprooted poles. Internet service is down. Numerous raw houses and tin rice have been blown away causing extensive damage
