Описание: Each morning, these men assemble at the city’s transit points in the hope of a livelihood. We call it Labour Chowk. Bundles of jute sacks, paint-stained palettes, and heavy toolboxes lined with hammers and nails are the only companions of semi-skilled workers of the city's labour chowk. But what used to be a bustling marketplace for skill has turned into an interminable waiting room.

​From dawn to dusk, construction workers, plumbers, and carpenters stand in a quiet anticipation. Every slowing car brings a flicker of hope, but often they go home with empty pockets and achy feet.

The Edge team visited Noida’s Labour Chowk to witness this daily struggle of sweat and tears - where the only thing more exhausting than the work is the uncertainty of not finding it.

As the gig workers recently got relieved with government support and 10-min delivery ban, the traditional labourer remains lost in the shadows. They are the hands that build our skyscrapers by keeping their nose to the grindstone, yet they have no one to speak for them.
