The real Princess of Tianzhu was taken away by a strange wind and cast out near the old site of Bujin Monastery. The one who replaced her is the Jade Rabbit from the Moon Palace. Taking the princess’s form, she deceives the king, raises the bridal tower, and casts the embroidered ball straight toward the passing Tang Sanzang.

“Father, this holy monk is the husband chosen by heaven.”

Tang Sanzang is drawn into the palace, dressed in wedding robes, surrounded by lanterns and music. Zhu Bajie is delighted. Sha Wujing feels unease. Sun Wukong looks once with his fiery eyes and sees the truth.

“Monster! Return my master!”

His staff flashes. The false princess reveals her true form — a white Jade Rabbit wielding her pounding pestle as battle erupts from the palace to the heavens and back again.

Just as Sun Wukong is ready to strike the final blow, silver light descends from the sky.

The Moon Goddess arrives.

She gathers the Jade Rabbit back into her care, and with that, the false celebration collapses. The real princess is brought back from exile. She kneels in tears before Tang Sanzang and his disciples. The king rejoices. Only then do the lights of Tianzhu truly begin to shine.

Not with forced celebration.

But with the warmth of destiny returned to its rightful place.
