Ancient Ghosts: Hidden in Plain Sight

We’re going to look at ghosts a little differently — not as something scary, but as something that used to be a part of daily life. We’ll look at what people in the ancient world actually believed about the dead. Long before haunted houses and modern ghost stories, cultures across Mesopotamia, Egypt, Rome, and early China were already writing about restless spirits, unfinished business, and the thin boundary between the living and the dead.

Along the way, we look at how ghost stories changed as history changed — and why ancient ghosts might not look the way we expect them to today.
