Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This product fits a 2001-2005 Honda Civic. It's going to provide a 4-way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters. The adapters are sold separately and it's going to come with a dust cap for the 4-way flt connector. That way you can cover up the connection points when your plug is not being used. The black box right here is the included tail light converter.
This is going to ensure that your vehicles wiring matches that of your trailers. The powered module connects directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring to avoid overloading the vehicles electrical system. The unit is constructed using surface mount technology, which is going to offer a consistent, reliable performance. What that does is it maximizes the trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat. It's also going to ensure superior operation, even in rough road conditions. This unit is designed to connect quickly and easily.
You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. Just locate the connection points in the rear cargo area and then you're going to plug in your connectors. These connectors are going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle. The connector with the green wire goes to the passenger side. The other sets of connectors goes to the drivers side of the vehicle. Once you have those connected, you'll need to make a ground connection.
That is going to be the white wire that has a ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a nice, clean metal surface with the included grounding screw. Then you will mount your converter box to a nice, clean, out of the way location with the included double-sided adhesive foam tape. Once you have all that done, you can run your hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is the short black wire coming out of the box.
This is going to get connected to the bundle of black wire with one of the included butt connectors. The other end of the bundle runs to the vehicle battery and gets connected to 1/2 of the fuse holder with another butt connector. The other 1/2 of the fuse holder gets a ring terminal attached to it and connects to the positive post of vehicle battery. It does come with a 10 amp fuse. It goes directly into the fuse holder and it's got the fuse cap that goes over it to keep it safe and protected. Once you have that done, you can use the included cable ties to secure any excess or slack in the wires and then once your installation is complete, the 4-way connector is going to be stowed in an out of the way location within your cargo area. We do want to recommend that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself. That grease is designed to help prevent corrosion. It is sold separately. If you need some of that, you can find it here at etrailer.com. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 3.0 amps per circuit. For the tail lights we're looking at 6.0 amps per circuit. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector.
