👍Welcome back to Detroit Food Review!

In this episode, we’re heading to Dearborn Heights, Michigan to check out a brand new Mexican restaurant that’s making serious waves in the Metro Detroit food scene — La Corona. This spot just opened recently, but it might already be serving up some of the best Mexican food in the area.

We went all in on this visit! I tried one of their hearty combination plates, which came with beans and rice, a taco, an enchilada, and a burrito. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and full of authentic Mexican flavor.

But the real surprise? Their pambazo — a traditional Mexican sandwich from Mexico City that’s dipped in red guajillo sauce and grilled, then loaded with potatoes, chorizo, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream. If you’ve never had one, this is the place to try it!

I also ordered a carne asada rice bowl, stacked with cheese, nacho cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and guacamole, all served with their housemade chips that are dusted in a cheesy seasoning — they taste just like Doritos, in the best way possible.

To top it off, I had their elote, classic Mexican street corn, which was perfectly grilled and full of bold flavor.

La Corona might be the sleeper hit of Metro Detroit’s taco game. If you love discovering hidden gem restaurants, especially Mexican food in Metro Detroit, you’ll want to check this one out.
