Yunnan Province, China's largest coffee-producing region, is seeing a surge in coffee bean prices, driven by global supply shortages due to bad weather and logistics snares.
The price surge has been fueled by a more than 118 percent increase in global coffee futures over the past year and has significantly driven up profits for Chinese coffee farmers.
Like those in the province's top coffee growing city Pu'er, who say they expect their profits to double compared to last year.
Pu'er accounts for over 50 percent of China's total coffee production with coffee cultivation covering more than 45,000 hectares of land.
Local coffee and tea development officials say they expect the city's coffee output to be roughly the same as last year, but the profits will be historic.
With over 130 years of coffee cultivation history, Yunnan dominates China's coffee industry, producing 98 percent of the country's total coffee output.
