I picked up an old steel Sun/Raleigh road bike. A proper British classic, and I’m giving it a complete transformation. The plan? Strip it right back to the bare frame, polish the steel, clear-coat it, and rebuild it as a one-of-a-kind custom bike with Campagnolo Athena parts, a 1× drivetrain, and a modern wheelset.

In this first episode, I take you through the whole bike as I found it: the frame, the vintage components, the quirks… everything.
Then I get straight into the teardown, removing decades-old parts, freeing stuck components, and taking it all the way back to the skeleton so we can start fresh.

Coming up in the next parts:
– Stripping the paint and revealing the raw steel
– Fitting the Campagnolo drivetrain
– Converting it to a 1× city bike (maybe)
– Building it back up with new wheels, cables, bearings, and leather finishing touches
