This color educational film is about different ways to weld. It was made by the Union Carbide Linde Division to encourage young people to pursue careers in the welding trade. No copyright but this is circa the 1970s.

Opening: a men welds, sparks fly, bright lights. Wire tube turns. A laser beam welds. Credit: WAYS TO WELD (:06-1:30). A man demonstrates gas welding. He ignites oxygen and gas through his torch. Gas welding is taking place, close on the flame. The welder is joining two pieces of metal in fusion metal (1:31-2:54). Braze welding is shown, this is the use of a bronze or brass filler rod coated with flux to join steel workpieces. He tries to join a rod to a pipe. Basic equipment show for gas welding is shown in a diagram. Gas welding diagram shown at gas tip. The welder cuts through the pipe. Sparks fly and a computerized control helps cut a steel plate. Inside a large shop where stainless steel is being welded. Arc welding is explained in a diagram (2:55-6:05). A man welds wearing his welder's mask. A boy welds. Gas metal arc welding or MIG welding is explained and shown. Wire comes out of a pipe. An older man welds (6:06-7:39). A diagram which shows gas metal arc welding and explains it. Cored wire is used in this type of welding. MIG welding is shown and is exhibits very little smoke. Sparks fly as a man welds. Gas tungsten arc welding or TIG welding is explained and demonstrated. A very bright welding light. A TIG welding diagram (7:40-10:39). A man welds, wearing a welder's mask. A man welds on a large tube. Submerged arc welding diagram which explains what is required. The workpiece is rotated so the welding technique can be performed. Two pieces of steel are being welded, Electrode slag welding. A man moves a copper plate. A welding unit is placed over the gap. A tube and wire are turned. Welding is then performed, fire and sparks (10:40-13:49). Resistance welding is shown and explained. A piece of steel is shown under this. Ultra pulse welding is resistance welding, it has to do with cylindrical pieces. A woman presses buttons and performs this type of welding. Plasma arc welding is explained and shown. This involves ionized gas. The metal is welded (13:50-15:13).Plasma arc can cut stainless steel and aluminum which are hard to cut. Electron beam welding is then shown. A man looks at a beam. A green light beam. A man opens a vacuum chamber. Laser welding is performed. A man pushes buttons and this process begins (15:14-16:47). Welding is shown, bright flame lights. A green beam. A welder welds. A bright blue light (16:48-17:50). End credits (17:51-18:11).
