Downtown (1989) Full Arcade Game Playthrough (With Commentary) and GRS Super Joystick Review (Pt 3)

Описание: In this video I am going to playthrough a hidden arcade gem from 1989 - the top-down beat em up that utilizes a rotary joystick- Downtown - the way it was meant to be played, with a rotary joystick. I will tell you about my setup and the specific issues I ran into with my system running MAME 2010/MAME 139 with the GRS Super Joystick.

The TL;DR - use MAME 2016 or newer for best results.

The build quality on the joystick is AMAZING and it feels better than any other home arcade joystick I have used - It's the real deal and feels just like an arcade joystick and I absolutely love it.

But I have run into issues using it with my Raspberry Pi 4 and MAME that I believe have specifically to do with my setup and how MAME decodes the input from the GRS Super Joystick and that is all documented here. Before the system got overwhelmed it was an amazing experience.

The GRS Super Joystick brings a whole new level of authenticity to playing these classic games that utilize a rotary controller.

Overall I give the GRS Super Joystick a 9/10 and highly recommend it, since the issues I ran into were specifically with my system and software so it should be something that can be resolved fairly easily (or if I was using an x86 system instead of a Pi 4).
