TRANSCRIPT: My name is Samantha Miller, I'm a family medicine physician here at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
I've actually been at Wake Forest now going on seven years, initially I came down for medical school and stayed for residency and have enjoyed my time here so much that I'm planning on starting my career here with Wake Forest Baptist Health.
I went into family medicine purely because of the patients. I love watching children grow into healthy young adults and then taking care of them as adults as well as taking care of their children and their grandparents.
I enjoy all the aspects that family medicine has to offer.
What I enjoy most about working with patients is hearing everyone's individual story because everyone has a story and I feel that that's very valuable to the care that I can give them. I know their story and what brought them to the place that they are at right now in life and what has shaped them and that helps me provide better care for them as well.
As a physician, it's easy to get lost in medical terminology and many of the little things. However being a patient myself and growing up, going to a family doctor who knew my parents and my sister, it really puts you in that position of understanding the importance of explaining things in simpler terms and being on the same page with your physician.
I have two amazing rescue dogs. I'm an animal lover. I enjoy the outdoors and leading an active and healthy lifestyle whether it's running, hiking, or spending a day at the beach.
