Noreen Ramsay is an Irish ceramic and glass artist who graduated with a first class honors Degree in Ceramic Design from Limerick School of Art and Design in 2001. Since then she has worked from her own studio in Co Clare exhibiting both locally and nationally. She was awarded prizes in the RDS Craft competion in 1998 and 2003 and was selected for EVA in 2003 . She has shown work often in Sculpture in Context, the Irish Ceramic Awards, Glor and the Hunt Museum.
Using layers of glass and ceramic she creates three dimensional images. She is concerned with creating a whole from fragments, an image from many layers. Seen up close there is an awareness of the complexity of overlapping layers with different things happening on several levels. Standing back there is the satisfaction of seeing an overall image, the layers merging into a unified whole.
