i call this cognitive psychological phenomenon “The Metal Water Bottle”
its the tendency of an individual to incorrectly estimate metal water bottles get dropped more often compared to plastic water bottles.
this is due to the significantly louder impact sound of the metal water bottle, thus registering the occasion more vividly and emotionally within the individual’s. mind, whereas plastic water bottles are not memorable when dropped, giving the impression metal water bottles get dropped more and thus estimating accordingly.
