Radio telescopes produce two images of hypermassive objects located at the centers of two galaxies, both of which have a darkened spot at their centers, and immediately scientists around the world exclaim, "We have irrefutable proof of the existence of black holes!" This video recalls the genesis of this model, in the mid-1970s, when John Wheeler relied solely on the interpretation of Karl Schwarzschild's first 1916 article, given by his compatriot Richard Tolmann, who had died thirty years earlier, while completely ignoring the second, which would not be translated into English until twenty years later. What can be said of the insight provided in 1917 by the German mathematician Hermann Weyl, in an article that would not be translated into English until 2012, 95 years after its publication in German! Weyl, who died twenty years before the birth of the modern-day chimera.
The LIGO and VIRGO gravitational wave detectors are picking up signals. Here again, someone like Thibault Damour immediately exclaims, "Here's another piece of evidence." It should be noted that neutron stars, whose existence has this time been proven, result, in their final conversion into supernovae, from the crushing of the iron sphere that fusion reactions, in massive stars, the "ash" of fusion reactions, have formed at the center of the star. If, for stars of 5 solar masses, the mass of this sphere remains below the critical mass of 3 solar masses "leading to a black hole," these masses would exceed this value for stars whose mass can reach 200 solar masses (the current record). But what star would give birth to an iron sphere of 100 solar masses, as estimated by Kip Thorne in his calculations of the masses involved in the production of waves, an assessment that immediately earned him the Nobel Prize!?
There is no hindsight, no element of doubt, in A global scientific approach that has taken on all the trappings of a religion. Any skeptic is immediately accused of "conspiracy theorizing," "deviance," or "irrationality."
In this video, I point out that in both images, the ratio of maximum and minimum temperatures is very close to 3, which would then correspond to "subcritical objects." Everything will depend on this in the years to come. The radio telescope network will soon provide "other images of black holes," with the same black spot at the center.
How will experts interpret this value of 3 in these images?
01:55: The temperatures of the central and peripheral parts, deduced from the two available images.
03:12: Computer-generated images showing a black hole and its accretion disk, from different angles.
04:00: Gravitational redshift
06:30: How John Wheeler conceived the black hole model.
07:50: Basis of the Plugstar model.
10:30: The ratio of 3 between the maximum and minimum temperatures in the two available images.
11:50: Nature and origin of these hypermassive objects. My quasar model (1997).
14:58: The counterpart of the quasar phenomenon: irregular galaxies.
15:35: Final remark questioning the origin of the gravitational wave signals captured by the LIGO and VIRGO detectors as the merger of massive black holes.
