An early, humid, summer morning- we set out to tackle the biggest adventure of my life. Mount Mitchell- the highest peak on the east coast of North America. About 12 miles total with 4000 feet of climb. Definitely the most challenging hike I have ever done. It was humbling, but a perfect beginning to peak bagging! We stayed overnight at the Black Mountain Campground, to allow us the ease of the trail head being 500 feet away.
