Ashford Traveller with Triple Drive Band and Woolee Winder

Описание: A demonstration of spinning flax on my Ashford Traveller with a Double Drive Woolee Winder but stringing up the wheel with a triple drive band where one is on the bobbin and two are on different grooves on the whorl. It helps temper the draw of the thread and for the woolee winder it quiets the beast a bit more than usual. I can back off on my tension and still get good grip on the whorl because of two belts on the whorl. The drive band is a single band wrapped three times instead of two. It works and it is a thing. It was a technique used long ago and pretty much lost in the shuffle from then to now. Im sure it is something that was used but most never mentioned it in books or texts. Now it is back because if you have a double whorl on your DD wheel you can use this technique. You could if you wanted do a triple wrap even if you have a single grove whorl on your DD wheel. Many are like that. But you will want to reduce the diameter of your drive band if you do triple wrapping. You may get away with much less tension yet keep your grip on the whorl so you can spin thin and not have the yanking when you treadle which can if it is too much enough to break your ultra thin spinning.
