"This was the year where the giant began to stir.
For so many seasons the Tigers have been wallowing in the bottom reaches of the table, but under John Northey and with the injection of some new faces, the once mighty Tigers began to take the steps back to greatness.
Led by gallant skipper Tony Free and backed by Brendon Gale, Matty Knights and new senior recruits Greg Dear and Michael Gale, Richmond hinted to the football world that the Tiger is on the prowl once more.
In young stars Matthew Richardson, Matthew Rogers, Jamie Tape and Justin Murphy, Richmond has a side which is capable of developing into one of the finest in the land.
When it does, they will point to 1994 and say that's when we put the writing on the wall."
