"Shakermaker" was first released on 20 June 1994 by Creation Records as the second single from Oasis’s debut studio album “Definitely Maybe”, which was released on 29 August 1994.

The leading hook in this guitar part is excellent for exploring the dominant seventh chord shape in the position of B and E with the root notes on the A string. The lead parts are generally repetitive pentatonic phrases, featuring slides, bends and double stops typical of Noel Gallagher's style.

This is a relatively straightforward approach to playing the slide guitar. Throughout the song, the slide works over the B, G, and D strings, forming a major chord shape (imagine a root A major barre chord, but without playing the A and high E strings), which follows the chord changes throughout the song. The hardest part of attempting to play with a slide is muting the strings that you don't want to hear, applying the right amount of pressure with the slide against the string and then pitching your notes correctly. Try to rest your finger in front of the slide to help reduce unwanted string noise. Aim to have the slide hovering over the fretwire, with the fretwire sitting at the centre of the slide as it rests against the strings. This should help you pitch your notes accurately.
