Nita & Kocoum - Sound the Bugle

Another crossover attempt, this time featuring Nita from Brother Bear II and Kocoum from Pocahontas. Again, there was the problem of limited scenes since Kocoum doesn't appear very often in the movie, but I tried my best to work around it. Just be warned that this one is pretty tragic :)

Here's the story that I came up with:

Before Kocoum went off to battle, he and Nita were very much in love. However, when he returns to the village as a war hero, he is a changed man, emotionally scarred by the things he'd seen and done at battle.

Nita tries to act normal but for Kocoum, nothing is the same as it used to be. This makes Nita frustrated because she sees that Kocoum is suffering inside but she is unable reach out to him. Kocoum cannot bring himself to open up to her because he feels that she doesn't deserve to be tormented by the horrors that are tormenting him.

When the tribe feasts in Kocoum's honour, Kocoum stays out of it, busying himself by sharpening his knife. Nita attempts to coax him to join in, but he is simply not in the mood to celebrate. It breaks Nita's heart that Kocoum is choosing to suffer alone and she longs for things to return to the way they were before.

Then one day, the village is invaded by a group of nomads intending to take their women and plunder their goods. They go after Nita but Kocoum intervenes just in the nick of time. A fight ensues and Kocoum is killed by Nita's attacker. Nita realises that despite his inner struggle, he still loved her as much as she loved him. She knows that she cannot live without her soulmate and so she chooses to follow after him.
