Mallet finger strapping with custom moulded splint

Any questions let me know as this is the 2nd mallet finger I've had so I'm well versed :) my first was 12 years ago and it made a full recovery, within 12 weeks I was back to playing football (soccer) in goal catching balls.

(I can provide a much slower and more careful video with commentary and zoom in if requested, the splint was custom made with plastic that you place in hot water to make malleable which you mould around your finger with slight extension until the plastic solidifys, highly recommended)

I've just finished 8 straight weeks of having my finger in this splint, outcome so far looks very promising, the drop has disappeared and tendon is very stiff with a slight over extension which is OK to have.

Key parts of the video is the first tape forming a cross over my injured tendon and around the tip of my finger, this acts as a safety net preventing the finger from drooping if accidently lifted from table, it's not to be relied on though.

Next laying tape under the finger, placing splint on finger and slowly feeding tape along tip of finger over the split, combine this with the tape strapped around near the middle knuckle the finger will not drop, allowing you to strap the top part.

For extra security I would double up on each strapping you've seen in the video making sure it's tight and secure.
The tape is microporous and breathable and the splint has tiny breathable holes.

This normally takes me 20 minutes to complete when I am being very careful not to lift my finger off the table. I never rotate my hand upside down like I did in the video for the final strap, I normally lift my finger with my other hand and place it on a strip of tape ready and strap it. For additional piece of mind I sometimes place an object under the tip of my finger to give it extra extension such as a pair of scissors I used to cut the tape.
