When stocks churn sideways without a lot movement, some option traders may favor neutral based strategies such as a calendar spread. In this trade you buy a longer dated contract and sell a shorter dated one of the same strike. This lowers the net debit but also allows a trader to benefit from time decay when the stock isn't moving a lot. You'll see two class example trades and how to use the Risk Profile tool to analyze the risks and reward of these examples in the thinkorswim platform.
