What does an Oreo, a Warrior Beasts action figure, and the 1993 film Tombstone have in common?
At first glance — nothing.
But they’re all part of the same story. A story about reactions, missed opportunities, and the things that only exist because something else came first.
Warrior Beasts are a licensed action figure line originally produced by Remco in the 1980s and now revived by Zoloworld. Despite being legitimate, they’re almost always labeled as “knockoffs,” especially when compared to Masters of the Universe.
But that word gets thrown around too easily. Because when you actually look at toy history — and pop culture in general — you start to realize that many of the most iconic creations were reactions themselves. Oreo wasn’t first. Tombstone wasn’t the first Wyatt Earp movie. Even He-Man was born after Mattel failed to secure the Conan license and pivoted ideas from their Big Jim line into something new.
To understand where Warrior Beasts really fit, I took the Zoloworld figures to Toy Federation and talked with collectors, historians, and fans who know this line inside and out — including Pixel Dan and Froggy Flips. Together, we explore what actually defines a knockoff, when inspiration crosses into imitation, and why Skull Man became one of the most coveted figures of the entire line.
This isn’t just a video about toys. It’s about how culture works — how ideas evolve, how “copying” becomes standard, and why some things survive long after they were written off.
And in the end, the question isn’t whether Warrior Beasts were knockoffs — it’s whether that label ever really mattered at all.
