Partially Flexible Airfoil with Flap: CFD Simulation on NACA 2415

Описание: This CFD simulation examines a partially flexible airfoil, where a flexible section is implemented on the upper surface of a NACA 2415 airfoil while a flap mechanism is positioned at the trailing edge. The flexible section is controlled using DEFINE_GRID_MOTION in UDF, enabling dynamic adaptation, whereas the flap moves freely under SixDOF (Six Degrees of Freedom) constraints.

The simulation visualizes velocity contours and flow interactions, with two measurement points tracking velocity fluctuations:

First Point: Captures velocity fluctuation just behind the flexible section.
Second Point: Monitors fluctuation in the wake region.
This study highlights the effects of partially flexible airfoils on flow control, wake dynamics, and aerodynamic performance.
