This 1926 recording of the Nutcracker Suite was the first electrically recorded version, made in November 1926
Whilst Stokowski had made the first orchestral electrical recording in 1925 of Saint-Saens’ Danse Macabre, the Nutrcracker recording was one of the first electric recordings to record the whole splendour of the full symphony orchestra without additional instruments being used to enhance the recorded sound
Acoustic, pre-electric, recordings achieved a frequency range of up to 2,500Hz
With the advent of electrical recordings in 1925, the frequency range increased to about 8,500Hz
