Lone Star Trail Thru Hike Day 2 | Familiar Miles and New Perspectives

Day 2 on the Lone Star Trail started off tired and cold. The nightly temperatures made it hard to sleep, and getting moving in the morning took a little extra effort.🥶 But once I was packed up and back on the trail, the day completely turned around.

The weather couldn’t have been better, water was available, and my body felt great. No soreness, no blisters, just steady miles and a growing sense of gratitude for being back out here.😊 I spent a lot of time reflecting on how parts of the trail felt familiar while other sections looked entirely new, even though I’ve walked this stretch before.

One of the highlights of the day was reaching the viewpoint near Lake Stubblefield. It’s always stunning, and it reminded me exactly why I love this trail so much. The only people I saw all day were passing through the Lake Stubblefield campground, and otherwise it was just quiet miles and open forest. 🌲🌲

I wrapped up the day at my favorite campsite on the Lone Star Trail, West Huntsville Primitive Camp, arriving after dark but still smiling from ear to ear.🏕️ Day 2 covered roughly 14.7 trail miles and continued what felt like smooth sailing on this second thru-hike attempt.
