Описание: Rice fields divided like a spider's web (Lingko). In Manggarai you will find these impressive lingko fields. The most amazing view over a couple of these fields is offered at Cara Village situated on a small hill 17km west of Ruteng in Cancar.

These spider web shaped rice fields called “Lingko” are a legacy of traditional Manggarai culture going back thousands of years. Lingko was a way of allocating village owned lands among individual family groups or clans.
During planting and harvest time there is a ceremony held at the lodok (centre of the field) where a wooden pole and a rock form the ritual centre. The pole (male) and rock (female) are used to symbolize the reunion of the male and female and the heaven and the earth.
