My DoorDash acceptance rate is in the 30s… which means I'm dangerously close to losing Platinum Dasher status.
So the question is:
Can you still make $20 per hour on DoorDash while declining most orders?
In this real DoorDash dash-along in Benton/Bryant, Arkansas, I head out on a Wednesday shift with the usual goal: $120 for the night and a $20/hour average.
The problem?
DoorDash keeps sending the classic $4–$5 delivery offers, and accepting those could destroy the hourly rate. But declining them pushes the acceptance rate lower, which could drop my status to Gold Dasher.
So tonight becomes a little DoorDash experiment:
✔ Stick to the $1 per mile rule
✔ Decline the low-paying offers
✔ See if the $20/hour goal is still possible
About 2.5 hours into the dash, the numbers tell the story.
If you're a DoorDash driver, gig worker, or someone thinking about dashing, this episode shows the real decisions drivers face every night between acceptance rate, bad orders, and hourly profit.
And honestly…
Would YOU take a $4 order just to protect your acceptance rate?
Let me know in the comments.
