In today's video we dive deep in life in Karakalpakstan, an autonomous region in the north west of Uzbekistan. These people have their own language, culture, history and traditions, and are often skipped over on many foreigners visits to Uzbekistan.
First we head to Madzhalhan, an ancient Necropolis that was once home to a Zoroastrian fire temple.
Next, we head into the desert of southern Karakalpakstan for food in a yurt and to walk around in the remains of a 1000 year old foretress.
Lastly we head up north to Moynaq and visit the sad remains of a city where the Aral Sea used to be, before Soviet mismanagement drained it.
