South Africa has unveiled the largest Hindu temple in the southern hemisphere. The Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Multi-Cultural Centre and Temple has been opened in Johannesburg. South Africa’s Deputy President Paul Mashatile attended the temple's inauguration ceremony on February 2. While less than two per cent of South Africans identify as Hindu, Hinduism remains the most followed religion among the country's Indian-origin community.
