Living My Childhood Dream of Paragliding

When I was 15 years old, I saw two paraglider pilots flying over my village. I was mesmerized. Questions flooded my mind—Who are they? Where did they come from? How does it feel to be up there in the sky? That day, I made a promise to myself: One day, I will experience this too, and in the same place.

Years passed, but the thought never left me. Every time I visited my village, I would look up at the sky and wonder how I could make it happen.

Nine years later, in 2022, someone told me about a cycling course in Arunachal Pradesh conducted by NIMAS. Being passionate about cycling as well, I decided to go for it. When I arrived at NIMAS, something magical happened—a paraglider pilot flew right in front of us during the opening address to welcome us. It was an unforgettable moment! That’s when I learned that NIMAS also offers paragliding training.

Without a second thought, I enrolled in their paragliding course in 2023. It was a life-changing experience where I learned so much. That’s when my childhood dream came rushing back, and I made a new goal: to buy my own paraglider.

I worked hard, saved money, and by the end of 2024, I finally bought a second-hand glider. Without wasting any time, I headed to Tehri for my first real flying experience. A huge thanks to TJ Sir and Team Paragliding Mantra for guiding me through this journey. I stayed there for five days, refining my skills before returning to my village to fulfill my childhood dream.AdventureRx

Turning Dreams into Reality

The first step was to find the perfect takeoff location. I made my first attempt—and crashed. The second attempt—another crash. The villagers advised me to go higher into the mountains for better wind conditions. Trusting their advice, I changed my takeoff spot, and finally, I succeeded!

That moment was surreal—I was living my dream, flying over my village just like I had imagined as a kid. But the challenge wasn’t over yet. Landing was the next big test. It was tricky, and in the end, I had a rough landing, but it didn’t matter. I had done it! I had achieved my dream.AdventureRx

The next day, I went back up, this time with a camera, to capture the most beautiful moments of my life. I will cherish this experience forever.
