Charmaine Lee is an Australian vocalist based in New York. Using her voice, feedback, and live processing, Lee's practice is primarily concerned with risk-taking, play, and improvisation. Her long running collaborators include Ikue Mori and Conrad Tao. Lee runs a record label, Kou Records, dedicated to pioneering artists in music and sound.
Founded in the wake of Fukushima, the Ende Tymes Festival of Noise and Sonic Liberation contemplates the harsh, distorted quality of our age with pioneers of noise exploration. The festival’s 15th annual iteration featured legends of experimental music like Aaron Dilloway, The Rita, Spiteful Womb, Charmaine Lee, and Valise.
