Finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman proposed Income Tax Exemption on disability pensions including service element and disability element only to those armed forces members where an individual is invalided out of service on account of bodily disability attributable to, or Aggravated by Army, Naval or Air Force service.
Cases other than invalided out from service are excluded from income tax Exemption. Hence, retirement cases on Superannuation or otherwise will not get benefit of Income tax Exemption on their disability pension.
