Matar Mushroom Recipe (Peas & Mushroom Curry)
Ingredients:
1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
200 grams mushrooms (washed and sliced)
2 medium onions (finely chopped)
2 tomatoes (pureed)
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 green chilies (optional)
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
½ teaspoon garam masala
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
2 tablespoons oil
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
½ cup water (as needed)
Step 1: Prepare the Base
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Step 2: Add Ginger-Garlic
Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute until the raw smell disappears.
Step 3: Add Tomatoes & Spices
Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
Cook until oil starts separating from the masala.
Step 4: Add Vegetables
Add green peas and sliced mushrooms. Mix well and cook for 2–3 minutes.
Step 5: Simmer
Add ½ cup water, cover, and cook on medium flame for 8–10 minutes until peas and mushrooms are soft.
Step 6: Finish
Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
🍽️ Serving Suggestions:
Serve hot with roti, paratha, or steamed rice.
