To get a high score, you have to make the gameplay ugly.
DMC5's scoring system requires you to attack enemies at a Style Rank of S or higher to get a high score.
However, regardless of the Style Rank, it always starts at D. This means you can't attact you have to use various taunting moves to reach a Style Rank of S before you can start fighting.
