Kanpur: A paralysed man was produced on a stretcher before the Kanpur Family Court after a non-bailable warrant (NBW) was issued against him in connection with a maintenance case filed by his wife.
According to reports, the couple separated within a month of marriage, after which the wife filed cases seeking maintenance and alleging dowry harassment. The husband later suffered a brain haemorrhage and has since been bedridden. However, it was submitted before the court that the wife claimed he was medically fit and deliberately misleading the court, following which the NBW was issued.
The incident has sparked debate over the handling of matrimonial disputes involving serious medical conditions, with calls for careful judicial scrutiny in such cases. Authorities said the matter remains under legal consideration.
