The conduct of unscrupulous legal practitioners is under the spotlight
following shocking revelations from the Legal Practice Fidelity Fund.
The fund disclosed that more than 500 cases involving lawyers accused
of defrauding clients of nearly R1.5 billion from trust accounts
remain unresolved, with no prosecutions in sight. Organisation Undoing
Tax Abuse's Stefanie Fick says the legal fraternity must urgently
address the lack of consequences and restore public trust through
stricter oversight and accountability.
