In this vlog, we explore the historic Badami Cave Temples and the Badami Archaeological Museum in Karnataka.

Badami, once the capital of the Chalukya dynasty, is famous for its stunning rock-cut cave temples carved into red sandstone cliffs. These caves date back to the 6th–8th century and showcase a beautiful blend of Hindu and Jain architecture.

We begin our journey by climbing up to the four Badami caves, each dedicated to different deities:

Cave 1 – Lord Shiva as Nataraja 🕉️

Cave 2 & 3 – Lord Vishnu and his avatars

Cave 4 – Jain Tirthankaras

The view of Agastya Lake from the caves is absolutely breathtaking! 🌄

Next, we visit the Badami Archaeological Museum, where ancient sculptures, inscriptions, idols, and stone carvings help us understand the rich history and culture of this region.

Timings & Fees

Opening Hours: ~9:00 AM to ~5:00 PM (Closed on Fridays).

Entry Fee: Around ₹5 for adults; children under ~15 often free.

Photography: Usually not permitted inside the galleries.

Wear comfortable shoes — the caves involve climbing some steps and uneven terrain.

There are local guides available who can explain the symbolism and history in depth.
