Photograph of a 1600s "Nike trainer"
A pair of Nike sneakers caught the attention of a mother and daughter at the National Portrait Gallery. This has generated a lot of interest in the picture.
Many have speculated that the subject of the photo is a "time traveller" because to this.
A little kid of eight years old appears in the center of Portrait of a kid by the Dutch painter Ferdinand Bol, holding a cup with one hand and putting his other hand on his hip. The artwork dates back to the early 1600s.
The child is dressed in a black jacket and cape, a white blouse with ruffled sleeves, auburn socks, and black boots.
Except, perhaps, for what appears to be a white "tick" mark for Nike on the side of the boy's left shoe.
Given that Nike wasn't founded until 1964 and the painting was created 300 years earlier, it's hard to imagine that being the case.
At a London event with her daughter Holly, 23, 57-year-old Fiona Foskett observed something that looked like a time-traveling tick.
For example: "I asked my daughter, 'Wait, does he have on a pair of Nike trainers?'" The Sun, Foskett informed us.
Given his age, he must have owned the very first pair of Nikes. Or does he truly travel through time?
In an interview with the newspaper, a representative from the National Gallery said, "We're glad that this picture is so popular with our visitors."
A Tweet we sent out challenging people to examine the shoes of the youngster depicted in the painting at the age of eight in order to spot a "more modern" detail went viral.
