Just a little video of what was supposed to be a Tourist Attraction located in Lawrence County here in Indiana. This idea was hatched up to kinda show off the communities of Bedford, Oolitic & Needmore. After all, Lawrence County is known as the "Limestone Capital" of the world. So, what better way to draw tourist to your town then to make a tourist park with a Pyramid 1/5 the size of the Pryamid of Giza. And also throw in a 650 foot replica of the "GREAT WALL". All made from Limestone right there from Lawrence Co..
This all took place in 1980 with a grant from the Federal Gov. for $200,000.00 or more. The figures are a bit obscured from the past 43 years or so. But, it all went sour when a Senator from Wisconsin named William Proxmire got wind of the Grant and the Pyramid project. He blew the whistle on the project. They were given his distinctive "GOLDEN FLEECE AWARD" as he deemed it a Boondoggle ( Waste of tax payer's money ). And the project was ended. The work that was started sooned stopped and this is what remains of this project today, which is just a mere layer of stone that was the 1st layer and a partial, neatly stacked stone structure that was to be a sign I believe. Oh, and a few piles of various stones surrounding the base.
2 deer show up. The first @ 3:50 and the second @ 4:08 . Can you spot them ?
NOTE::::
This site is on private property and you can only view it from above with a drone, air plane or satellite image.
Thanks for watching,
Mike
