Pacific Northwest Trip: Part 11
Continuing our trip north out of California and back through the interior of Oregon, we made many stops, all with some kind of volcanic history.
First up is Crater Lake National Park where us Floridians really enjoyed all the fresh snow on the trees as we gained elevation. Unfortunately the lake was covered in cloud and since we were only stopping in for a quick look, we didn't get that iconic view. This was more or less a last minute addition to our plans but it was worth it.
More snow fell as we explored Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Should I mention this was filmed in mid June?! We hiked through the Big Obsidian Flow and followed that with a stop at Paulina Falls.
Lastly we visited Deschutes National Forest. Boyd Cave was the destination. It's a lava tube we hiked through for quite a while.
Lots of great adventures this day.
