STORYLINE
The potters' colony in Calcutta.
For centuries, the brightly coloured clay idols have been crafted for Bengal's huge Durga Pujab festival.
But even here change is in the air.
These make-shift sheds of Kumartuli are to be replaced by concrete structures over the next few years.
Calcutta was once the second capital of the British Empire in India. It has many reminders of its colonial legacy.
Among them is the Victoria Memorial , a white marble museum with an imposing statue of Queen Victoria .
And the potters' colony is a living legacy from those times.
Kumartuli is an integral part of calcutta's cultural landscape and has a special place in every Durga devotee's heart.
