In Part 13 of our Parametric Mold Base series, we finalize the Ejector Grid by designing the Return Pins (Push Back Pins) and the Ejector Guide Bushes.
We also focus on "Design for Maintenance." A mold isn't just about making parts; it needs to be serviced. We add Lifting Holes to the individual plates and Clamping Slots (Pry Pockets) to help toolmakers assemble and disassemble the grid safely.
🔥 Design & Assembly Details:
Ejector Guide Bushes: Modeling the bronze/steel bushings that slide on the Ejector Guide Pillars.
Lubrication: Adding internal Grease Grooves and drilling grease fittings to ensure smooth operation.
Return Pin Design: Linking the Master Sketch to create the Push Back Pins that reset the ejection system.
Stepped Parting Lines: A Pro Tip on handling Return Pins of different lengths (using unique components vs. copies).
Maintenance Features: Creating Lifting Holes (M16) and Clamping Slots on the Ejector Retainer & Back Plates.
Assembly constraints: Finalizing the motion of the Ejector Grid.

❓ Design Question: When you have a Stepped Parting Line, do you use Return Pins of different lengths, or do you just cut them all flat and add a "landing pad" on the insert?
I discuss the "Different Length" strategy at 23:37. Let me know your preference! 👇
