DIY Home Built Kids Electric Jeep Willys Go Kart

Описание: Inspired by the WW2 Workhorse Willys Jeep MB, We built this mini scale electric version of the same. Its about 5 feet long and 3 feet wide and can easily carry an adult and a kid. With our boys(10 and 4) on board it goes about 20mph max. Uses 2 500W electric motor, electronic speed controller, fully working headlight, indicators, tail lights, dashboard with key ignition. Runs on 2, 35Ah battery. Steering uses a rack and pinion to make it easy on the kidos..

Steering Column : I sed a Settl bar from Locak HW Store - Home Depot.
Flange Bearing for Steering Wheel Assembly.
Chasis : 2/4 Studs - Spindle Kit Bolted Directoely to underbody Plywood Frame and Chassis

I chose Dead Axle with Sprocket on Wheel Design to Avoid Corner Drag - So two rear wheels spin independently with each Connected to a 350W Motor using a Sprocket/Chain Mechanism;

Battery : 22AH 12v AGM SLA Battery x2 - 2x Connected in Series Giving about 30 Mins Run Time - you can go for 2x 35ah - but they are darn heavy.

Most truck/atv/lights are 12V So used a 24-12V buck converter to power Lights and Horn


Body :
1/2 Inch Birch Marine Grade Plywood - Local Lumber store - 1 4x8 Sheet

Paint : Olive Drab from Sherwin Williams - Choode a bit darker tint from aint Pallet - I used a Satin Finish - Didnt want glossy to hode some imperfections -looks fboulos

Han held Router - Just used only for the Grill - Can also use a Jig Saw

Drill Driver Set - Prefer a Corded Drill and a Cordless Driver

Nails - I had a Ryobi Cordless Brad Nailer - Saves a ton of time - Cheap and Best tool i owned.
Paint Sprayer : You can use roller or Brush - but used a cheap HomeRight C800971.A - Again a investment if you are a homeowner and love DIY. I painted my whole house inside with it (over a few months room by room :-))

Miter Saw

Please feel free to ask any question - again the whole body was a full custom build based on a Blueprint of 1942 Willys MB Jeep - Feely available for Download from Internet. Many mechanical parts needed minor modification.
I am not a mechanic and doesnt own a shop - the whole project was built on my Home Garage with minimal tools - zero welding or metal work.
